Whenever I go Hongdae (Hongik Univ.) area, I always think about this place during the night. Especially, when I want to drink, I usually visit Hongdae Gogalbi. Eating Gogalbi with a shot of Soju is really good, I feel like in paradise. Otherewise, some people disappointed sinceGogalbi is little bit spicy and it is too small. However, it would be nice place if you go this place for a second drinking party.

About Gogalbi

Galbi (BBQ rib)

Before I explain Gogalbi, let me say about Go first. The prefix Go comes from Godeung-a, which is Mackerel's Korean name. And Galbi is a kind of Korean style BBQ rib. So, Gogalbi means cooked Mackerel like Galbi. In easy term, Gogalbi is BBQ Mackerel.

There are lots of food here, but 고갈비 (Gogalbi) is the best here. It is not because I don't want to translate all the names on menu. Gogalbi is 15,000 KRW though!

Attractive Spicy Gogalbi

There are two kinds of Gogalbi even though it is not in menu. One is Gogalbi seasoned with salt (Soguem Gogalbi) and seasoned spicy Gogalbi (Yangnyum Gogalbi).
If you ordered the seasoned spicy Gogalbi, please be careful!

Basic Banchans (Side dishes)

Sometimes, drinking Sansamju (Ginseng flavor alcohol) is better than Soju.

Gogalbi with lovely friends

Even though you are full, do you still want to drink more?
It would be the best Anju (Food served with alcoholic beverages in Korean) for you.

Do you want to eat bulgogi in Jongno?

Jonggak station, it is the center of Jongno which has many business buildings and hagwons (private educational institutes), so it's always crowded with office workers and students.

Because of that there are also many restaurants here. So, it is very hard to choose where I should go to eat in Jongno. Now, I recommend one nice place for bulgogi in Jongno.

Jongno Bulgogi (Jongno Roast Pork)

Actually, the name of this place is not Jongno Bulgogi but Buldoiji. Gogi means meat, and doiji means pork here. For convenience sake, I call this place to Jongno Bulgogi instead of its real name.

A lot of entertainers visited

There are many owners' pictures with famous entertainers in Korea. I've never seen these kinds of things in other restaurants. I am sure there is a special reason why so many celebrities visited.

Neat and efficient spaces

The interior is simple and neat. It is a three-storied inner space and and terrace. It is well designed especially in Jongno. However, there are lots of people here during the dinner time.
